Jump Start Occupational Therapy: 

-  Based on a developmental delay or diagnosis 

- Comprehensive evaluation completed at the beginning of treatment 

- Goals set with regular progress monitoring 

- Sessions are generally scheduled weekly or regularly until goals are met or a break is deemed beneficial to integrate new skills 

- Coordination with pediatrician/PCP (although no referral is required) 

- Offered in person 

Often involves one of the following areas:

  • Infants who are not meeting milestones

  • Toddlers who struggle to learn self-care tasks

  • Preschoolers with delayed fine or gross motor skills

  • School aged children who have difficulty with self-regulation or handwriting

  • Children with sensory processing difficulties 

  • Feeding therapy with oral motor skill deficits or tube weaning

Jump Start Coaching: 

-  Based on family/caregiver need - no diagnosis required for services  

- Generally focuses on short-term duration and specific areas of concern 

- Regular discussion with caregivers to maintain focus on progress  

- Offered virtually or in person 

Involves one of the following areas:

  • Potty training

  • Challenging behavior

  • Picky eating

  • Implementing routines

  • Parenting neurodivergent children 

Note: coaching services are NOT skilled OT interventions

During the course of family coaching, it may be determined that your child may benefit from skilled therapy services (OT, speech therapy, psychotherapy, etc.). In this case, I will work with you to meet with your child's pediatrician and locate appropriate therapy services in your area.
